We visited Scotland for 13 days with our friends, Kathy and Rich. Fabulous. A GREAT time of year to go: dodge the rain and the scenery is incredible.

brooks461 > Dirleton Castle and Gardens, Scotland. We sure were mystified about this structure. We saw lots of them, though. Stooping through the little door, and looking up, we saw that it was a "doo coot:" a dove cote. (See next photo)

brooks461 > Dirleton Castle and Gardens, Scotland. This is the inside of the "doo coot," looking straight up. Each of those little niches is a roosting place for a dove -- providing meat and eggs for the castle, especially during the winter. What do doves eat?
