Much of the adventure is getting there, getting around, and getting home again. It was a good idea NOT to have a car in Athens. One wouldn't have helped on the hills anyway. The city is meant for walking, unless you have a scooter or motorcycle. The city is used to tourists, and much is translated into English. Outside Athens, driving is exactly like in the US, if you can decipher the road signs, only some of which are in English. We made wild guesses and did fine.
