brooks461 > The only bridge to Bird Island (location of Sunset Beach) is a one-way bridge, one of the few floating barge swing-bridges left in the US. It was first built in 1952. The original span was purposely sunk at the end of the fishing pier, to attract fish. The current bridge operator works his barge from the white house, which rides on the barge out of the way of the traffic. You can see the roadway at a slight angle to the right of the house. The bridge is open for boats in this picture.
brooks461 > These guys are on the dock next to their shrimp boat. We bought a couple of pounds of shrimp from them.
